Jasper County Airport will host a Young Eagles Rally conducted by EAA Chapter 235 on June 13th from 8 am to 12 pm Central. Young Eagles is a program that aims to introduce kids age 8-17 to aviation by taking them on an airplane ride. EAA Chapter 235 volunteers stepped in to fill in for another Chapter.

This event has been two years in the making. The original date had to be rescheduled for Covid, just like every other event. Jasper County Airport’s current airport manager counts a Young Eagles flight as being instrumental in sparking his aviation interest. Volunteer pilots will fly kids around for a short hop in a small general aviation aircraft. Participants typically get a certificate to commemorate the event.

To register for the event, parents can email Info@JasperCountyAirport.com with:

  1. Child’s first name
  2. Child’s age
  3. Parent’s name
  4. Parent’s phone number.

Parent Permission Slip

If the participating child will not have a parent or legal guardian present, they must have a registration form completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Parents/legal guardians that are planning on attending the event with their child can still complete the registration form and either bring it with them or scan and email it back to me to expedite the registration on event day.

If a parent would prefer to pre-fill the information online, print, and sign the form, you can go to this link here: https://youngeaglesday.org/?2117.

Those without printers can drop by the airport for the registration form prior to the event.

Parking

Please park at the parking lot at the entrance of the airport off of SR-114. If that lot is full, use the fairgrounds field across the street from the airport for overflow parking.

Covid Precautions

The airport will have sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer present for use at the event. The airport will also have disposable face masks for those that wish to have a mask. Those that are not vaccinated are encouraged to social distance and wear face masks. This is a fun event and we would love to keep it that way.

Please Share

Please don’t forget to thank your pilot, take pictures, and share those with us if you are okay with us posting those across our platforms to help promote aviation and aviation education. These pilots and ground crew are volunteering their time and aircraft and traveling here to serve our community. Please share our gratitude with them! Also, share this event with people you know that may be interested in having their kids patriciate.
