Jasper County Airport will once again host Aviation Career Day and Open House. This year’s event is scheduled for May 10th from 8 am until 2 pm central. Attendees are encouraged to come before 2 pm since some guest speakers tend to leave early if attendance tapers off. This free event aims to showcase multiple aviation industry careers and is open to the public. Attendees will hear from industry professionals, see static displays, and observe aviation-related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) demonstrations.

The airport is working to secure a variety of professional volunteers and static displays for the event. Large groups (15+) should contact airport management for scheduling purposes. Buses will once again pull into the airport parking lot to drop off students, then go across the street for parking. With the exception of emergency personnel and disabled drivers, all other parking will be across the street at the fairgrounds. All event questions, suggestions, and scheduling requests, as well as those interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact airport management at:

Last year’s event was attended by over 1,000 students in addition to teachers, administrators, parents, locals, and volunteers. This year’s event hopes to build upon the success of the previous events while updating the material covered. Aviation Career Day and Open House is one component of the airport’s Aviation Education Initiative aimed at introducing future generations to the amazing world of aviation. To fulfill demand generated by the inaugural 2017 event, Jasper County Airport has continued to host Aviation Career Day and is in the process of starting high school aviation education courses where high school juniors and seniors can work toward becoming licensed aircraft pilots, aircraft mechanics, or drone pilots.
